Give us the option to add songs to the end of the play queue with a single click.

    Hi KC

Thanks for the feedback. When we first released BluOS in December of 2012, BluOS was designed that tapping songs added the songs to the bottom of the queue. Due to public demand that this model was confusing and not intuitive and after much research, we changed this in early 2016 to the more popular and industry-standard, tap a song and it plays along with the context menu to give you more options to add to queue at the end or next etc. This change resulted in a dramatic increase in product acceptance by our consumers and dealer channels alike.

We do apologise for the inconvenience but for simplicity reasons, I don't foresee us going back on this one but it has been passed along for future consideration.

Now I know why NAD only produces amps with one dial knob. Else everybody would have asked extra decals and a menu option to configure the left dial knob for volume control :D

I prefer it as it is. Single click is play, and use the three dot button to select add next or add last. That is the same number of options as you request, but click to play is the only way to go.

Glad it works for you but for me it's making me do more than twice as many things than I should have to (and used to have to).

Bluesound Controller used to use a single click to add a song to the end of the queue or started playing it if nothing was currently playing. Then Bluesound changed it.  For me this is like NAD changing the way the volume knob works (turn counter clockwise to raise the volume) and making you press another button too. Maybe a better analogy is Microsoft getting rid of the Start button in Windows.  So glad they made it more work to do a common task

I have an first generation iPad with an old copy of the the Controller App (1.20.0) that has click to add to bottom of queue or play if nothing's playing. I keep it around because I can create queues with less than half the clicks/gestures than if I use the current Controller.  (Hoping that iPad lasts a long time...)  I add songs to a queue more than I start playing song.  I start one song and then add 50 to 100 songs. Using the old app makes things a lot easier/faster. 100 clicks versus 200?  I'll take 100.

I'm just asking that we have the option of making the current desktop apps and phone apps work the way that used to.  It really isn't very many lines of code and they can bury the option if they want to and those interested can change it.  You'll never know the difference and be click to play happy.

Ideally what many of us want is the full API so we can create our own controllers with "modern" things like drag and drop.  Creating a controller app would be a great project for my programming students...  Any interest Bluesound?

Thanks Tony.  I know it's a long shot. For me the original method works well and is faster.  Adding double tap to play would have probably worked for most users.

I hope Bluesound really considers releasing the full API.  Making the controller open source would yield some fantastic options and make the end user experience much better.   I teach Java and Python programming and students have created wonderful full feature iTunes like MP3 players so a Bluesound controller would be a great fun project.  I have a first gen Node running on my classroom stereo system.

    Hello KC,

A simple API doc is available on our website (scroll to the bottom of bluesound.com/downloads, under Drivers for Home Automation). It's decently comprehensive and covers a wide array of functionality for students and programmers to work with.

    Regards,
    Sam R.

    Sam,

This is great!  I didn't realize you had released the API. I think my students will have fun with this.  I just have to watch out for them hijacking it and being generally mischievous.  Much appreciated.

    Cheers!
