Connect CD transport to bluesound power node 2i

Can I connect a CD transport (CD player with no DAC) to a bluesound power node 2i ?  Do I just connect to the optical input?  Will this work?

  Hello Arthur,
  
  The Powernode 2i has an available 3.5 analog/optical input port. So long as your external equipment provides an analog or optical output, you can connect it to your Powernode 2i without issue.

  Thanks!  I connected my CD player,  Marantz HD-CD1, to the Powernode 2i optical input.  It sounds great!  I think the Powernode DAC is superior to the Marantz DAC, so I am now using the CD player as a transporter.

  What type of a cable would I use for such a connection, a Coxial to 3.5mm?
