Sorry if this question is obvious. My CD collection is on a NAS drive connected to a new Bluesound node 2i by wifi with the app on an iPad. If I select an album in the bluesound app on my Ipad and hit play all it just plays the first track on the album in a never-ending loop

Hello Iain,
From what you have described you may have the repeat option enabled in your BluOS app. What I would suggest is to ensure your BluOS app is not set to single song repeat from the Now Playing screen. If you are still experiencing this behavior even after disabling repeat, please contact our support crew directly at support@bluesound.com or by going to Help > Send Support Request through the BluOS app.
