Local share problems on Mac OS BluOS controller
Good evening,
I just installed the BluOS controller on my 2017 iMac running Catalina (10.25.2). I am using it to stream music to an NAD C658. I have tried adding "local shares" time and time again, following all of the instructions provided online, with no success. After browsing, selecting the desired folder, then continuing with the next steps, I keep getting the following message: "Not Complete. There is a problem adding this local share." My music is on a hard drive in a 4-bay enclosure (an "OWC Thunderbay 4") connected to the iMac with a Thunderbolt cable. I am at wit's end--any help will be appreciated!

Hello Frank,
I'm sorry to hear you have been experiencing issues with connecting a local share. Since this music library is not actually stored on your computer but through an external drive, it may be better to connect this library as a network share instead. Please follow the steps in the PDF below to configure this network share.

If you are still unable to connect this share after following these steps, please contact our support crew directly at support@bluesound.com for further assistance.

I have this same problem. I was able to add non-iTunes music directly from my Mac (from the internal drive, not a connected/network drive) but was unable to add the iTunes library.
I tried this recommended step:
https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/204103486-Why-is-my-BluOS-index-not-completing-?
but got an error message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding"
I was able to add the library manually via the NET BIOS name, and then saw 500, 1000, 1500 songs processed … batching/processing seems to be working. But it cannot get through the entire library
I cut a ticket with the support crew but haven't heard anything back yet.
Please advise, thanks.

Hi Glenn
Please be patient - we are continuing to dig out from the large backlogged caused by everyone self isolating and using their systems as their main source of entertainment - we will be in touch

Glenn,
Did you have any success? This problem has cropped up for me once again.

Hello,
A few problems have emerged:
1. I have tried, repeatedly and without success, to add another local share. I keep getting an error message stating that the "share" cannot be added. I have followed to the letter the literature provided by BluOS.
2. My Library occasionally disappears. The local shares are still selected under "music library," but to get the library to reappear requires unmounting the hard drive with the music and rebooting my Mac. That often doesn't work, and I am forced to reindex the library. I should add that, in this situation, the BluOS sometimes doesn't respond and I need to click on "reindex music collection" multiple times.
I *want* to like the Blu OS controller. When it works, it works well. But when it doesn't it is incredibly frustrating. I had hoped to listed to 15 minutes' worth of music this morning and have instead spent one hour taking various stabs at solving these problems. This is not what I would expect from a premium brand like NAD.

Hello Frank,
The next time your library disappears, please send our support crew a diagnostic log through the BluOS app's Help > Send Support Request (log will be automatically attached to the support request) so they may look into what is causing the issue, as well as help set up this second local share.

Hi Frank,
I was able to add my local library manually. But my iTunes library is saved to my Mac Mini's internal hard drive, not an external drive, so that may be making a difference.
BluOS is really poor at iTunes library management compared to, say, Sonos. I have been unable to add my iTunes library due to so-called "corrupt" files which halt the indexing process. Support gave me troubleshooting advice which included moving my albums to another folder and manually working my way through to address this issue. Sonos has no issues indexing my library.
So I just gave up and use the Node 2i for streaming. Sorry I can't help more.

Sam,
Thank you. The other issue is that I cannot add a local share. I have three local shares added currently and want to add one more. I keep getting an error message. Do you suggest I do the same (send a diagnostic log)?

Glenn,
Thank you. Over the past week my "troubleshooting-to-music-listening ratio" has not been good--about 90 minutes of troubleshooting for every 15 minutes of music listened to!
