amp limit for Node 2i USB connected device
BeantwortetWhat is the amp draw limit for a USB flash drive connected to the Node 2i? I read that older versions had a limit of .5A. Can I connect a WD Easystore external drive without requiring addition power?

Hello Larry,
The limitations of first-generation Bluesound players not providing enough power for unpowered USB devices has been addressed in generation 2 and 2i players. We have no seen any issues with connecting unpowered USB devices with later generation players so there should be no trouble connecting your WD drive.Regards,

Could the USB port be used to charge an Ipad? (or keep it alive/powered at least) ?? Have an old Ipad i'd like to setup next to my Node 2i for choosing music.

Hello Per,
I have not tested this myself, but since the Node 2i's USB port does provide power, this could work in theory.I would suggest to try it out yourself and see if it provides a charge for your iPad.

Ok i'll give it a try and get back to you with the results. I guess if the powerdraw is to high, the Node will stop delivering power to the USB port. Fingers crossed.

Ok, testet and it works, the charge icon appears on the ipad. I'll try to drain the the battery on the ipad to see if it charges or its just powered by the USB port.

Can I follow up on this? I'd like to use the Node 2i USB port to charge an Android tablet that I use to run BluOS. Is it acceptable/safe to do so?

Bluesound USB ports provide 1.0 Amp of power - enough to trickle charge a phone but not enough to charge larger tablets.
