How to find shares on your laptop from your Iphone?

I have tried to share a folder on my laptop with MP3 files so that I can find them on my Iphone and send them to my Node2 to play on my stereo. THIS HAS WORKED BEFORE.  I have shared the folder with wide open permissions but my BlueSound app on my phone cannot find the share, even when I enter it manually?
