Two Bluesound Pulsed 2i's Sound Issues with Television and Movies?

I just purchased a second Pulse 2i to compliment my single Pulse 2i. With music the Pulse 2i's, in stereo left/right mode, works without issue. The problem I'm having is using both Pulse 2i's while watching TV or movies. The primary speaker is connected to the TV via Optical In/Out cable. The secondary speaker is plugged into the power source without an Optical connection. I paired the two speakers in the Bluesound app. The principle speaker works fine. The secondary speaker exhibits distortion and static. 

What do I need to do to pair both speakers to my TV so both are in sync and work without distortion?
