Pulse Flex 2i battery pack causing distortion
BeantwortetHi,
I just bought a Pulse Flex 2i yesterday with a battery pack - I want to use it on our deck outside. I finally got it set up (the included and online instructions need a serious revision, none of it was correct for me, but I did get it on the network eventually), and testing it. With the cord plugged in, the sound was great, but when I tried it with just the battery, the sound quality was distorted and quite bad. I tested it at various locations outside and inside and on various wifi networks to see if that was the issue and the distortion only happened when I was using just the battery pack. When I plugged it in, even with the battery pack attached, the distortion disappeared. Obviously I want to use the battery pack when I'm outdoors, but the music was basically unlistenable and seems unrelated to the wifi network, since I tried them all at various distances from the router and plug in and out. And I tried it with the battery being at various stages of full to see if it was a power issue. I streamed only songs from my vault 2i to the speaker, so it wasn't a streaming service issue either, and I tried various genres. I also updated both the vault and speaker yesterday, so they are current. Is there a fix for this? Otherwise, I'm returning the battery pack and am frustrated that this is such a problem for a pretty expensive system.

This is not normal... We will be in touch as I am escalating this...

Is this issue related to the rubber backing being removed? I just filed a ticket for a similar issue when mounting the Flex 2is on speaker stands.

It is not related to that apparently - they told me it's a hardware issue, but still not sure what the resolution is.

Is this issue related to the rubber backing being removed?
No. The rubber backing is purely aesthetic.

Hi,
I am hearing the same issue, i think. Playing music with battery only and switching volume up to normal listening volume the music sounds like the speaker can't handle the volume. But using the same music much louder with power connected sound normal. So seems to be battery related...

Hi,
are there any updates to this issue. Honestly I didn't test it in the last weeks because my two Flex are on powercables at the moment. But would love to get an info if or when it will be solved...

Hi Stefan
I do apologise for this. I am re-opening your request as we should have been looking into the hardware of your backpack. One of our support Crew will be in touch.

I am experiencing the same problem with the battery. Speaker sounds fine while plugged in, but distorts like it can't handle the volume with the battery pack. Was this issue solved? Please advise. Thank you.

It‘s simple, it can‘t handle higher volumes with battery pack.
That‘s what I got from support. The battery pack can deliver enough power under full charge, but with discharge it can‘t. So we are advised to use them with moderate volume when the battery pack is used.

Having the same problem here... was this resolved ? What was the reason for the distortion while using the battery ?

Hi Daniel,
like I wrote above you. You get these distortions when the battery pack isn't fully charged anymore and you hear with higher volumes. So only way is to lower volume when battery pack charging gets lower.
Not shure if Bluesound did update the hardware (battery pack) if you buy a new one, but I would expect no...

Just experienced the same issue this weekend, with a battery pack that I bought some time ago. First time I ever had the chance to use it.
Bluesound, are you seriously saying, that this issue has not been fixed during the last 3 years? How come you havent updated the battery pack to avoid this issue? This seems absolutely bonkers to be honest.
I have tried dozens of portable speakers (ranging from small JBLs and similar, to large speakers from Soundboks) and none of your competitors have this issue. Mind you, this issue arise after barely minutes of playing. This would - pursuant to EU consumer law - be charaterized as a defect...
Isnt it time to update the product, so that it delivers what is promised? Four hours of playback is also rubbish, but the battery pack not being able to provide full sound is flat out an embarrassment. Please keep in mind, that a large part of the reason to even get the battery pack is to use the speaker outside.

This issue has not been solved. I am encountering the same issue. Battery pack is about half full and can’t handle bass transients at half volume. Please advise what is the solution?

Hi Avery
When encountering this, your FLEX is being underpowered over time. If the battery pack is not holding a charge, the NiMH batteries may be depleted completely. The average battery life varies
depending on the battery type installed or volume levels. Feel free to select Help, Send Support Request in the App so our Support Crew may provide more details.0 -
Hi there,
I have the same problem, the sound is never ok regardless of the level of battery charge.
What do you advise me to do?0 -
Hi. I have the same thing. It’s a completely useless battery. It should not be sold
