Bluesound Network and VLANS
BeantwortetPerhaps this has been asked before, but can I check that it's still currently not possible to put the Bluesound Players on their own VLAN network but run the control devices (ipad/iphone etc) on another VLAN. Perhaps there are some ports I could add to the firewall to enable the players to show in the app?
Also, I assume that the Bluesound players require internet for updates and Spotify etc - i.e. the players dont get their updates from the apps?
Thoughts much appreciated!

Hi Mark
Apps on one network and Players on another (VLAN or otherwise) will never work as mDNS (multicast) is not routable by design, but many a CCNA have tried. If any have been successful we have not heard the magic port mix yet - but looking forward if anyone does figure it out.
Without The Internet, you are correct, no Music Services such as Spotify or TIDAL, no software update notifications AND if you have VAULT, no automatic metadata identification and additions when ripping a CD... ...but it does work. If you are closing the Internet because you are concerned about security, well we are too and lock down your Players as best we can on that front.

Ok thanks, this is what I had heard. I'll put everything on one for now.

Hi! It's now possible to route multicast between different vlans, at least in my Ubiquity Unifi-setup.
What ports does Node 2i use to communicate within the network? For all local services to work.
