hi! i recently bought a node 2i and connected it to the audiolab 6000a integrated amp. when i play from the node2i, the amp always briefly states the sample rate on its display. this is always 44khz, regardless of what settings i have. at the moment, these are fixed level volume, no tone control and no external MQA dac. still, i find the sound quality to be quite flat and lacking dynamics, especially in the mid-tonal range. am i doing something wrong? i was hoping the node2i could provide higher sample rate output. i am using the coax connection, and have also tried the optical one. all with the same result, 44khz. the source files are often lossless audio files from my nas, so that can't be the problem either. any thoughts?

Hi Bert
You are limited to the DAC of your amplifier and bypass our on board Burr Brown 24/192 DAC when you use optical or COAX. Try connecting the RCA Analogue outs and use the NODE's on-board DAC. Let us know if your ears prefer that.

Hi Tony! Many thanks for the reply. It is not an answer to my question though, what is the output in terms of sample rate for the coax/optical connection. The DAC in the amp (ESS Sabre 9018 K2M) is superior to that of the Bluenode 2i, and I didn't buy the Node2i for its DAC but for its versatile streaming abilities. I don't get why the Node2I's output seems limited to 44khz for now. So can you please confirm what output signal the coaxial connection provides, what sample rates, etc.

It's not... contact your DAC manufacturer and ask them why you are only getting 16/44.

Hi Tony, Many thanks again. I did, and here is what they say:
"I suspect the blue sound is down sampling to 44.1kHz, I would advise you to speak to blue sound and find out why it is outputting 44.1kHz I have no knowledge of this product Node 2. The Audiolab 6000A will support up to 192/24 PCM."
It seems one is pointing fingers at each other here haha and I am still stuck with 544khz. Is there a way to verify the output signal by bluesound's node 2i, so I can be assured the problem lies with the amp and with the node?

again, MQA is not switched on and output level setting are fixed and tone control is switched off in BlueOs

Help, Diagnostics, Advanced is our system log. I assure you, we do not down sample. It is in fact something we take great pride in.
I assure you the problem is not at our end. I have been down this road a few times and it is always the DAC.

I know it's been two years since the issue was discussed but did you find the solution?
I have recently connected Node 2i via coax to Hegel H90 and I have exactly the same problem. Hegel's DAC is capable of handling 192 kHz / 24 bits and it displays the actual sampling rate received from Node 2i, which is 44.1 kHz.

What is the source of the music files Jacob? Can you be sure they're being delivered to the Node 2i as something other than 44.1 kHz?

Hi Mark,
the remark was very much correct. I am streaming from Tidal and I didn't notice that the sampling rate changes when it should - when listening to Tidal Masters.

I have the same problem that bert raised and interested to know if there is a resolution. I stream from Tidal (not Masters) to a Cambridge Audio DAC but I only ever see 24 bit/44khz. Tried all the options.

Cancel that request, pretty sure that Tidal is the limiting factor for me as I can get 196khz streaming a FLAC file from my USB devices. Thanks!
