Large volume difference with DIRAC enabled.

From an Internet search it appears this volume reduction is a feature of DIRAC LIVE. Pity. My Naim XS3 can easily cope with the volume increase but remembering to reduce it before I switch to radio services will have to be learned.

This topic has been marked as Answered but I’d appreciate a comment from Bluesound staff as to why the volume is so much lower. No mention of this is made in your Dirac video. Why not?

What you are hearing, as you deduced, is happening by DIRAC and the filter design you are applying.

Tony, what purpose does the response curve file serve? And if this reduced volume is a feature shouldn’t you at least mention it?

Hi Ray
This is part of DIRAC. Though DIRAC integration is featured in our product, it is a third party independent software add on.
The volume reduction is required to account for headroom required based on your filter design and as suggested can be better answered by DIRAC at live.dirac.com.

I’ve raised a ticket with them Tony. But I’m curious because my Arcam AVR21 AVR also has Dirac. If I login to YouTube via my AppleTV box which is connected to the AVR21 via HDMI and play CD quality music there is no difference in volume between Dirac on and off.
Maybe it’s the path it takes. From the Apple it goes to the Arcam then into a Naim amplifier and then to loudspeakers. The Naim acts as a power amplifier as I have a HT Bypass enabled AVR and amplifier.
Thoughts?
