a pure bluesound digital streaming transport
BeantwortetI have suggested this to bluesound before, but it seems like it didn't pick up pace so I decided to see what you guys think:
in late 2024 it seems like there was a trend starting up, more and more budget to mid-priced brands like fiio, keces, smsl, volumio started to offer purely digital streamers (often called a streaming transport), and I think its also time for bluesound to deliver such a product.
the main advantages of a pure streaming transport is that gives you the option to use your preferred dac and thanks to its more "simplified nature" in comparison to a streamer with analog outs, there could be a sharp jump in digital processing quality and connection options.
for example:
instead of a D/A circuit, thanks to the lowered costs the digital section can be upgraded instead with better clocks, isolation and processors, and since we now don't need the rca output, a AES/EBU and I2S output could be mounted which gives added connectivity.
such a product could and would target a broad range of people, from budget to high end consumers who already have their desired or preferred dac and do not want to skimp on the source's quality.
I would add that a product that shares the body of the nano, priced around the price tag of the nano, but just offers a pure high quality digital connection would sell like hotcakes.

Hi Frédéric
As you eluded to in your last sentence, the NODE NANO is the product you are looking.
