Alarm Fade-in

Hi, I have created an alarm for a player group as per this document:

A Node is the primary player and its output level is fixed. Two other Pulse Ms have individual volume settings.

My problem is the alarm starts at the configured volumes of all players even though the fade-in option is enabled. I would like the volume to increase to the configured settings over 5 to 10 seconds, for example. Have I done this setup incorrectly?
