A request: Please add the option to cache album art to mobile apps
BeantwortetAnyone using the mobile apps (iOS, Android) will have experienced the wait for album art to load (local music collection) when the app is started. On my Pixel 8 the wait varies from a few seconds to half a minute. That's too long.
The eliminate this wait please provide a preferences option to cache album art locally on the mobile device. Phones have a lot a storage these days. Most of us will have room for those images and will appreciate the quicker start up in the app.

Looks like you are experiencing some kind of local network lag. First, try rebooting your entire network and see if that helps with your experience. While I can't rule out the local Wifi network operating at different speeds at different times, I can tell you that downloading 1000 or more album covers is going to take some time no matter how well the Wifi network is performing.
Caching that art is the solution.
Please consider implementing that feature in upcoming feature releases. Its understood that some users won't want it which is why it should be OFF by default, then enabled in controller app preferences.

Hi John, I use iOS and have about 900 albums. If I scroll as fast as my finger allows by flicking the screen upwards multiple times, when I touch the screen to stop the scroll my artwork shows instantly.
I have artwork set at no larger than 600x600 and no more than 600kb - this probably helps.

Given your description of the controller app performance on iOS, I tried similar operations on an iPad. The album art fills in almost as fast as I can scroll. Its significantly better than on my Pixel 8.Assuming that the Android app is different code, I wouldn't expect them to act identically.
If you get a chance to try an Android device, you might be able to reproduce the lag I'm seeing.

Using an older model Pixel, but not seeing the slow response you are describing.
