NAD C700 plays at full volume. I can't reduce the volume

I recently upgraded firmware on my NAD C700. Now I cannot get the volume to reduce from LOUD!! Doesn't matter what the input source is I cannot use the device as I need to shut it off immediately as the volume is so loud and the remote doesn't respond.
