upper/lower case for library
BeantwortetThe ID Tags artist "Lionel Richie" is separat listed from "LIONEL RICHIE" (as an example). The search and Listing should be case insensitive from my perspective. It is the same artist...

Unfortunately in computing terms they are different and even more relevant on Unix based operating system which BluOS hardware uses.
Saying that you can edit your metadata tags very easily and quickly so they conform to whatever system you would like to use. Personally I capitalise the start letter on every track and artist, using the app Bliss for me it’s automated once I had set my rules.

Hello Seppi
I agree with you from a technical perspective. I was a Unix administrator and I'm familar with charsets.
But ... ;-)1) We have to see this from a user perspective. A normal user is not interested in technology. He just wants to listen to his artists/music! And is uper/lower case the same artist.
2) Yes, ID tags can be changed. But most ID tags come freedb, which varies upper and lower case and not every User has time or tools to service their libraries.
3) I used before the SW: Guayadeque under linux, which had a lot of such userfriendly features. But the SW was open source an the development has ended :-( So from technology side, is it possible to "group" those ID tags. And the coding is open source ;-)

Hi Markus,
Yes I agree with you that from an end user point of view it’s not ideal but seriously using the application Bliss on my Mac Mini M1 I can change the case on the tags and write them back at the rate of about an album every 2-3 seconds max. When I add new music the “housekeeping” I do is seconds and it takes much longer copying the albums across the network to the NAS than sorting out the tags and album artwork.
