Library backup on Vault 2 and using external drive as a library
BeantwortetI have a Vault 2 with about 300 gigs of music on it.
I have separate drive with 1.2TB of music.
I've tried connecting a 4TB external USB drive and when I plug it in to the Vault 2, it tells me I need to format it. I follow the prompts, First I click on "backup music library", then I see
"The connected disk drive does not appear to be a Bluesound backup drive.
You will need to format this drive for use exclusively as a Bluesound backup drive.
Do you want to format this drive? "
Then I click next and I see
FORMATTING THIS DRIVE WILL ERASE ALL CONTENT.
Do you want to continue?
Then I click next and it says "Action Cancelled"
As a test, I connected a 120 gb external SSD and it says the drive is too small for a backup, which is what I expected.
Does anyone have any ideas on things to try?
Also, if I connect my Western Digital My Book 4TB spinner drive to the Vault 2, will it automatically format the drive thus erasing the music I have on it?
Another question, can I "push" music to the Vault 2 from my computer to the Vault 2 internal library? I do not see that option anywhere when I login to the Vault 2.
I purchased this unit used from a friend. So I am new to Bluesound.

I have the identical problem when I follow the procedure mentioned in Tony's article above when trying to backup through the BluOs controller app. I follow the procedure and get the following:
"The connected disk drive does not appear to be a Bluesound backup drive.
You will need to format this drive for use exclusively as a Bluesound backup drive.
Do you want to format this drive? "
Then I click next and I see
FORMATTING THIS DRIVE WILL ERASE ALL CONTENT.
Do you want to continue?
Then I click next and it says "Action Cancelled" and nothing happens afterwards. Any ideas short of opening a support ticket?
Thanks,
Phil

Isn't that precisely what is described in the method? "A confirmation message requesting permission to format the USB storage drive is displayed."
As per the article, the disc will be formatted to EXT4, which is a Linux file system. If you do not wish that, just try the other method Back up/Restore via Computer.

Actually, no. It gives "action cancelled" AFTER permission to proceed has been given. I have a ticket open. If I don't get a solution then I will have to go the backup via computer route.

My wrong, indeed seems another bug...
