Optical Adapter stuck on my Optical Cable

Maybe a super dumb question but the 3.5mm to optical adapter for my node 2i is stuck on my optical cable and I cannot remove it. Is there some trick to it that I am missing.

  It should be pretty straightforward. That being said, the adapter is pretty universal. You can purchase a second one on sites such as Amazon for usually less than $10 US.
