    If either device (Mini or Powernode) are using WiFi for networking then the connection can experience interference. Connecting both devices to the network using ethernet cables provides a stable connection.

    Here is a simplified explanation of basic networking:

    A WiFi router creates a network by to assigning address numbers to each connected device. These numbers, IP addresses, can be reassigned randomly by the router unless the address (IP number for the device) is reserved in what is know as the routing table, a list of assigned IP addresses. The IP address (like a postal address or phone number) lets the router know where to send data from one device to another,  for example from theMini to the Node. Reserving a an IP address makes sure the address for a device stays the same and is not reassigned. This is done from the router, usually through a browser interface (Safari). Check your router manual or internet provider for information on how this is done with your router.
