Cancel recent searches / View All (Artist search results) button mostly doesn't work
I have previously reported that the label/button for emptying the list of recent search results on an iPad is often non-functional, meaning that the list can't be deleted. That same label/button is also the "View All" button that has to be pressed to expand artist search results and it, too, is regularly non-functional.
In old world terms, it's greyed out when it shouldn't be.
This suggests that there is a shared piece of screen handling-related code that's not always doing what it's told to do.
Not being able to view artist search results is very annoying, and it's a retrograde step rather than an upgrade.
I searched for "Queen" recently and was denied the ability to view tracks by Queen because the list wouldn't expand. It worked this morning, however, so it's a bit of a lottery, including there being more losers than winners.
Because of the nature of the bug, however, it might be possible to fix multiple problems with one fix.
Given that Bluesound's support team can no longer meet their service level pledge, presumably because V4 is still excessively sucking in resource, I'd still like the facility to optionally roll back to V3 so that everyone, including Bluesound, can catch their breath instead of risking drowning beneath a growing tidal wave of issues.
Trekkers who have watched the TNG episode "Hero Worship" will understand the benefit of rolling back, as should anyone in software development who understands that the later in a project an issue is addressed then the bigger it becomes, the more costly in time and resources it is to address, and the greater the likelihood of failing to meet objectives.
The rest of the English-speaking world will understand the expression, "Nip it in the bud."

To add further observations.......
Firstly, it's Clear/View All. (My mistake. Sorry.)
Also, the Clear label is generally non-functional when the Play Queue is displayed but sometimes resumes functioning if the Play Queue is not visible (at which point the label moves to the far right of the screen).
Tests today haven't revealed the same intermittent resumption for the View All button.

I second that. The latest version of 3 was way more stable. I’d like it back too. Then take two years or so the rebuild everything anew. And this time: everything. Do a lenghty quality check too, as that is non-existent at bluesound, it seems. This v4 is really hurting the brand (and other hardware brands as a result).

To come back to this thread, it's 'View All' for Artists that doesn't work when the play queue is displayed. When the play queue isn't displayed, it either works on first or second attempt. This suggests that the checks to inform the decision as to whether to enable the 'button' either aren't consistently being performed, or are always being performed but are sometimes misinformed, and therefore the software is disabling the button when it should be enabling it. (Whether disabling actually means "Don't allow input" or "Allow but ignore input" is beyond me.)
I've also posted about track run times not being displayed in library search results. I can now confirm that track times aren't shown when displaying unfiltered results from a simple string search.
I can also now confirm, however, that track run times ARE displayed if an artist or album filter is then applied to the initial string search results.
I also note that the display without track times, indeed the whole search dialogue display, is in a much larger font that probably looks great on a mobile phone, but that is oversize and harder to assimilate on an iPad unless one also needs to use a phone with large buttons.
The V3 UI emulator does this stuff much better and the display is far better suited to the iPad. (Another hint, hint!)
