TidaL FLAC instead of MQA in Bluesound App
BeantwortetUnfortunately the thread I wanted to post is already closed, so I open a new one. The original subject is "Tidal MAX (FLAC) via BluOS app".
I absolutely agree here. I'm no longer interested in MQA when there is high-res FLAC. I would also like to listen to my music via the BluOS app and not via Tidal Connect. Especially since my Bluesound/NAD devices are usually not available. I can only see these for a few days after they reboot, it's always been that way.
If there is no choice between FLAC and MQA in the BluOS app at the moment, FLAC should be the default and not MQA. I don't want to be a victim of a political game just because Lenbrook bought MQA. Let the customers choose and don't just tell them what to do.
For me, MQA still has meaning in the mobile sector or in hotels, where the WiFi does not deliver the amount of data to a single user or where data usage is limited.
And what do I get if an album is not in MQA but in 24 bit FLAC, only 16 bit FLAC. Very few labs support MQA, so let's listen to 24 bit FLAC.
And here again, because the new version has no improvement in this regard: I always want to see the bit depth and sampling frequency in the Playing now screen. Both updates after 4.0 bring no improvement here. When you leave the Playing now screen, the information will disappear and you have to tap the symbol again.
I will repeat this here until a change is made or someone from Bluesound explains to me clearly why this is not possible.
I always recommended Bluesound to my friends and was a big fan of it. But now I'm tired. Please finally understand that the best hardware is of no use if the software doesn't fit.
Always remember: software runs hardware!

Hi Tom
Please see this Thread; https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/16050576965783/comments/19485738549399
Context to why is here;https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/16050576965783/comments/18604892747415As my colleague and good friend Andrew states - TIDAL's API is not letting us, therefore you pick which layer in the tier.
I am closing this thread for comment but feel free to comment or post further on that main thread. -
Isn't this an issue with the Tidal API rather than BluOS?
AKAIK BluOS can only do what the API permits, perhaps these concerns should be addressed to Tidal.

Wait, what? Are you serious? Why???

@Brian:
I think they can choose what layer they play, HD FLAC or MQA. Wiim, UAPP and BubbleUPNP play the HD FLAC layer.
@ KriHad:
It doesn´t matter why. Bluesound told me that this is the most requested feature and they will implement it in 4.0. They did, but not very good. If it is not important for you just don´t tap on the quality symbol.
Every serious streamer does it. For example T+A, Lumin, Aune, Aurender and so on. Even the inexpensive ones like Wiim and Eversolo.
