Node Output Signal Question

My Bluesound Node 2 is connected to my Denon receiver via optical cable. The receiver, an older AVR-3806, recognizes the signal as a PCM two channel signal. However, there does not appear to be any corresponding signal for my subwoofer. When connected via analog rca cables, the receiver recognizes and powers the subwoofer. The sound seems to be much louder, if not sonically better, via the digital connection. Any thoughts how I can change the output signal type (PCM) from the node? Or, more broadly leverage my subwoofer when my Node is connected via digital cable to my receiver? Thanks In Advance

  You can try connecting the SUBWOOFER directly to the NODE and still use optical out. That or consult your third-party AV Receiver documentation to make adjustments to the subwoofer crossover or DSP output...
