write access to external USB drive
BeantwortetHello.
Using a Bluesound Node N130 version 4.2.0
Have a SSD plugged to USB port of the Node.
A personal computer in the same network can read data from there.
But it is not possible to write to the SSD.
This would be helpful to add further music files to the drive,
without plugging off the drive from the Node
which is integrated to a hifi rack.
Please allow write access to an external USB drive.
Thank you.

Hi Guenther
This would be dependant on how the drive was formatted - it is likely that if you cannot write to it, it was formatted as Windows' NTFS and not Fat32.

Thank you for fast reply.
Now i tried the file systems NTFS, FAT32 and EXT3.
All are running well with Bluesound Node
and can be read out from the personal computer. But unfortunately the write access is still not active.
Writing is not possible, independent from file system.
The access rights cannot be changed from the computer.Would appreciate to have write access to the external USB drive.
Thanks.

I am using a USB-connected SSD formatted EXFAT. Does this formatting change anything?
Would also appreciate being able to write new music files to the SSD without disconnecting it from the N130.

Same problem with a Node2. No write permission while plugged in. Would be very handy to be able to write via network without the need to unplug. Has nothing to do with NTFS or Fat32.

I have the same problem. @Tony W. is there a real solution for this issue? Obviously it's not (only) a question of the filesystem.

Support you are plain wrong - write access has NOTHING to do with the format of the drive and EVERYTHING to do with your OS.
Support: you have disabled write permissions to the USB drivbe by your OS. Windows can see the share either through the friendly name or IP address followed by \Shared.
It is understandable that the default would be read only, makes life simple for you for IO and for attack surfaces. Nonetheless, if you would allow the customer to flip a setting in the UI to allow Write access, this would be a huge benefit to all of us that would like to add / remove music via the network. Understandable if the player has to go in a "loading" mode if you want to protect your fragile IO code.

Yes, writing to a USB drive without having to remove it from the BluOS device would be great. Related post here - Transfer music files. – The Bluesound Support Crew

Hello Bluesound,
I notice that the original post was almost 10 months ago and apart from the initial (misleading) response from your end, there has been no further response/update regarding implementation of this feature.
It would be appreciated if you could update please, even if just confirm that its not possible ?
p.s. I'm wondering if anyone at Bluesound actually reads this stuff :)
Thanks in advance
