Audio adjustment issues on NAD C700

Hi,

I have recently purchased a NAD C700, and I'm streaming Spotify via my phone (iPhone). The C700 is connected to my home WiFi, and plays without a hitch. However, when using the physical volume knob, audio will jump back and forth, seemingly between 5 % increments. Not only is this annoying, but on higher sounds levels it's really unfortunate if the audio does a sudden jump up while being adjusted down. Is this a software issue, or is my volume dial faulty?
