Has the 4.0 upgrade made my amp quieter?
BeantwortetHi All,
A weird one here, and I've opened a support case but it's been days and all I get from Bluesound support are canned emails saying to be patient etc.
Anyway I'm interested to see if anyone else has experienced this. I'm running a Powernode 2i on Bluesound 4.0 connected to Kef LS50 metas. Whereas pre-4.0 my volume could be abount 25% of the max and the volume would be loud enough, now I'm turning it up to over 75% of the max and it's still not particularly loud (although I realise loudness can be subjective). Somehow the sound seems a lot more muted than before which is a bit disappointing.
This is primarily from Tidal but also experience this when streaming from my NAS too.
Perhaps there's a setting hidden somewhere I need to change, but at this point I'm tempted to switch to another streaming amp provider.
Thanks in advance

Hi Max,
We have not received any recent support ticket from you regarding this feedback. Perhaps you used a different email with your request.
In any of our firmware updates, we never made changes in DSP that will alter your listening experience.
However, please send us a support ticket using the BluOS app, this way a diagnostic log file will be sent to us that our support team member will be able to review and analyze to help you with your issue.
Thanks for #LivingHiFi -
I had the exact same thought the other day when listening to music on my zone 2 amplifier. I normally never have it above 55 and I was turning it up to 70. This could be a coincidence so I'll do some more testing to see if I notice it on my main zone amplifier.

This might be related to Tidal. I did some testing and my external DAC seems to have a problem when I switched back and forth between CD and MQA songs. I don't remember having this problem pre 4.0 but at the same time title has also started offering flac format in place of MQA. so it's really hard to tell if 4.0 has anything to do with this at all and it very well might not. If I get time this weekend I'll see what I can come up with with some testing.
