Need a better means of setting speaker (player) volume levels.
BeantwortetSurely my Bluesound setup is modest compared to those of many Bluesound customers.
After retiring, I wanted to strip music from my 850+ CD collection and make it available throughout the main areas of my house. The idea was to hear the same music in every room. Bluesound was recommended by Crutchfield for this.
Had I known the horror story that would ensue by my Vault 2 having a completely inadequate user interface, I'd never have bought Bluesound. Figured it would take a couple of weeks to rip the CDs. Actually, BluOS committed numerous errors that required re-ripping that extended over 6 months. Finally got that monster project done, and now hoped for playing music from my Windows PC with its 27" screen.
Two major failings of the user interface mar playback.
SPEAKER VOLUME. I now have five speakers, although originally planned to get more. Two sit in the main bedroom, two in the great room, and one in the kitchen. I have two basic needs: to balance the pairs, and to adjust room volumes independently of the other rooms. The grouping and pairing functions perform these tasks poorly. The slider controls make it a guessing game to balance pairs, and putting them all in one group (to play throughout the house) means I cannot pair by room. It's a tedious guessing game.
LIBRARY INTERFACE. With 850+ albums and double spacing, it takes forever to scroll through the library. What we need is an alternate interface for the library (which could apply to other windows, as well) that shows no graphics (album covers or the like) and single-spaces text lines (or at least moves lines of text closer to each other). Having done a lot of work with MS Access and other software, know that software virtually always double-speces text, but you can override that default to reduce scrolling (scrolling = wasting untold user hours).
Just got off the phone with Bluesound Support, and was told that Bluesound looks in the forum for comments like this, and topics raised by the most people get more attention in upgrades. This itself reflects an inefficient way to gather feedback for prioritizing software modifications. Instead, Bluesound should have categories under this forum under which customers could record comments in a more organized fashion for rank-ordering software fixes.
That's all for now. Supper calls.
