USB audio output will be supported on the NODE (N130) via a future software update. With the availability of USB audio output, we anticipate supporting MQA through a free software upgrade later. Unfortunately, we do not have an exact timeline on the final release of this feature just yet. For the latest information about firmware updates, new products, or other great news, please Follow us on Facebook, or Like us on Twitter.

Do u guys have a rough estimated time line? I have a chance to get a nice dac right now that only does mqa via usb. If the update will be in the next few months I'll jump on it. If not, I'll prob move on to something different.

Hi Thomas - no details yet, but in speaking with our Product Development Team, our intention would suggest we hope to meet your deadline of 'next few months'. I encourage you to jump away...

    Thank you for that response.
Lastly, does Bluesound Node support USB 3...or 2? Or does it matter?

USB 2.0 but this will have no impact on audio performance... so does not matter.

Since the new Node has only one USB port, which I use for adding an external hard drive to the Node containing all my CD's converted to FLAC, when this USB connectivity software comes out(which I want to use to connect to my DAC), will I forego my external sandisk SSD drive connectivity.?

Yes - that being said, there are better ways. Have you considered connect your USB drive to the USB port of your router and create a local library via a NAS?

Here's why that is an overall better experience for you; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360000465747

Hi, any chance you could confirm whether USB output will be available on the node 2i with the future update?

Our planned output to USB DACs is for the new NODE N130 only - it will not be available on the NODE 2 or NODE 2i models.

Tony, will the USB audio output support DSD to external DAC?

Bump for update. I upgraded from the node 2i to the node exclusively for usb support so that I could connect my chord Qutest to node via usb. It has now been over 3 months

    Hi there,

I'm planning to use the Node as a dedicated streamer and utilize the DAC on my amplifier. Does the USB output provide better sound quality as compared to Coaxial or Optical cable?  Thanks in advance.

When implemented - it will still be 1s and 0s so there are no audible difference in quality regardless of the ouput port

What is the timeline for this implementation?

  • Andrea Crema

Yes, its been a few months now and no news on the firmware update for USB and more importantly some other serious bug fixes.

No USB Output Update for 2i (Slapping Head) Never !? If not this will be a Bluesound deal breaker for me. Never again will I buy your products. Programmers can easily write the update for 2i. Just a greedy money grab by Bluesound

Seppi , nothing wrong with making a 'better' upgraded hardware unit. But I'm a new 2i buyer and I'm speaking about software/firmware updates. Bluesound could write firmware for the 2i's USB output. Where is customer loyalty and support? Clearly Blousound wants people like me to buy another Node. Aint happening! There are other products out there like ifi.

I'm not here for an e-fight nor did I think I would change Bluesound's mind. I just wanted to make my position and thoughts clear which I stand by as do others on various Audio Forums.

I'm happy for you Magnus... I sold my 2i four days ago. I'm now using the ifi Zen Stream with USB output... I have no regrets

Haha oh Larry.....until you have issues with that iFi.  I'm on my second unit of theirs and it's trash, keep having issues and their customer support is horrible.  Two units and neither can hook up to airplay regularly, they keep having issues but work fine with Roon.

I have a Node 2i that works perfect but I want USB output for my Schiit Modius and keep waiting to hear something about the Node N130 and USB output.

    Oh Aaron... :)

You know , I know , we all know Bluesound could update the 2i firmware to have USB output. I hope it works out for you and other 2i owners

Hi Bluesound, may I know what the latest estimate on when the USB output will be rolled out for the Node 2021?  Some type of time frame would be more useful. Thanks

Thanks for pointing out this post. Really hope it happens. Two more months to go.

Yes, I just bought one of these today based on this feature and now I'm learning that the feature has been touted but not released for half a year now.  All the you tube reviews say it can do it or will soon and they're all months old and yet "soon" ain't arrived yet.  What gives?  Afraid the bits will byte, hiding out in dragon lairs?

I too just got my Node yesterday in the hope that I could connect it to my DAC via USB. How long will you keep us waiting Bluesound?

This feature is important for many reasons! Many people have usb only dacs. Usb input can work asynchronous allowing high end dac with femto clocks to 'time/clock' a better data stream out of the buffer. Its written on the specs of the product and that alone should engage bluesound more to that feature. Some people have high end usb cables they invested on. Some dac just sound better with usb input: many dac have high quality galvanic usb isolators plus that clocking mentionnend above. I am another customer who bought it based on the usb output specified I just wish it was taken seriously months go by and still nothing. Id like a beta version at least so I can connect it the way I intended.

It's really sad that they are silent on this.

Why isn't there somebody who makes a streamer under $600 that just works and has what people are asking for?  I really don't get it.

It might be better to buy a used Cambridge CXN V2 instead of buying a node or iFi.

Pointing people to this thread that has no answers or updates is still silent to me.

I bought Node N130 last week and found that the USB output doesn't work .... I couldn't believe it ...
I did not imagine that this feature was not activated after so many months of launch, and especially that we were repeatedly assured that the USB output will be activated quickly through a firmware update.
What does fast mean for this company ????
A lot of false marketing from this company, to trick us into buying its products.
