Glad to hear you're interested! At release, the new NODE will not have support for Dolby content over HDMI - 2.1 ch PCM Stereo only - so it will not be able to work in that setup as intended.

    Regards,
    Sam R.

I did not see this post before, so I ended up opening a zendesk case (#235588) with more or less the same question. It turns out you get a different answer depending on who you ask.
I got this response, which pretty much killed my hope of ever being able to use my node for surround: "The Node N130 is not Dolby certified and will probably not be a product that will be certified in future."
But if there's a chance it will happen that's good to hear.

This would be an awsome feature to have… It just feels right with the hdmi and all.

I would like to add my support to this idea.  Please stop trying to give me an amplifier!  I have plenty of (more powerful) amplification already.  NODE + surround sound would be the ultimate front end for my entertainment system perhaps only outdone by an M10 v2 sans amplification.

I would buy a new node in a heartbeat if this feature was enabled. Please could you give it some consideration.

Hi, this should be fairly easy to do, since the hardware is very similar to the PowerNode. I already asked the Bluesound support about this a few months back, but never got an answer. I too have several power amps, that I would like to use with my Node. It seems like a product strategy decision and nothing else.

In speaking with our Engineering team, it is not similar enough... The NODE is not capable of DOLBY content and can only deliver 2.1 audio. It will not be possible even via software.

Well that's a gigantic let-down.  Why miss out on the opportunity to sell every NODE customer two more Bluesound products?

I guess I'll keep my eyes open for the next generation of NODE assuming it proves to be less of a disappointment.

It does look like Bluesound missed a trick with that decision.

That is definitely a missed opportunity to sell me 2 Flex'es. Would have bought 2 on the spot if this was possible. I love the one I have already, so would be more than happy to buy two more for a surround setup.

Same here. I would also buy two Flex'es. And Sam's first answer in this thread could hint at Dolby being implemented at some point: "At release, the new NODE will not have support for Dolby content over HDMI"......

We are a Bluesound Dealer in Switzerland. Many of our customers desire Dolby encoding through the NODE (Gen 3). Thanks.

Last year I moved in a new house and wanted a new smaller solution for a sound system that would perform well both for stereo music and TV surround. I did not have too much time to verify everything but I was convinced that the Bluesound Node was the same as the Bluesound Powernode just witout the amplifier section. I was happy so far with the performance of the Node, its small size and my stereo setup + subwoofer.

But now I have a bit more time on my hand and wanted to extend the system with two surround back Flex speakers just to discover that the Node does not support the surround configuration??

Imagine my surprise and disappointment. I have no real options to consider. Buying a Powernode at double the price for nothing is not really an option. Going back to a full size receiver (e.g. Denon) is not very nice either.

I just hope now that I have the patience to wait for a next version of the Node in the hope that it has that chip needed to decode Dobly and really be the Powernode just without power !!

Is there any update on if the Node 130 have Dolby Digital decoding? I just tried to disable the stereo downmix in the apple tv and send out a lpcm signal to the node and... Well, it works! I am pretty sure it didn't work when i got the node a couple of years ago.

Can't find anything in the firmware release notes though. Can anyone confirm?

    Hi Johan

As mentioned earlier in this thread; https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/1500000956961/comments/4613129258903

DOLBY is not possible in the NODE N130 as it does not have the hardware requirements unlike the SOUNDBAR (all generations) or the POWERNODE (since the 2i in 2018)
