Surround sound pre-amp downmixing 5.1 music files to 2.0 via app
I have the M17 V2i surround sound pre-amp with the latest firmware 3.14.2 (at the moment of posting) and latest desktop app 3.14.
In fact, no matter if I try to playback 5.1 multi-channel files via the desktop app or the android app, they get dowmixed to 2.0. It's weird because if I go to the Technical Info of the files, the app displays the correct number of channels as 6. So it's not a problem of the app not correctly identifying the files' no. of channels.
If I play them with my Oppo 203 and bitstream them via HDMI to the M17, they are played back correctly as 5.1.
This seems like a bug and I'm hoping it can be easily fixed as I'm not looking to power up the Oppo each time I want to play multi-channel files from my PC.
On a separate matter but still multi-channel related, would it be possible for the desktop app (or any BluOS app, for that matter) to index and allow playback of DTS encoded files (.dts file extension)?
Converting them to FLAC just to be able to play them back bloats their size 5 times.

So it plays multi-channel via HDMI when fed from another source, but not directly from the PC via the BluOS app... what would be the logic in that?
It's a multi-channel pre-amp, not a stereo one.
Shouldn't it be self-implied that it plays back multi-channel irrespective of the way the file is fed?
I've got tens of multi-channel SACDs backed up on my PC, I'm not gonna pop one in the Oppo just so I can listen in multi-channel when I listen to everything else via ethernet with the BluOS desktop app.
This is outrageous for the money the M17 costs!
It's not enough DSD is not natively supported and I have to transcode to FLAC, now I find out multi-channel playback is not supported.
Is this a BluOS app limitation, or is it a firmware limitation ?
