Edit playlists
BeantwortetIt's really annoying that when I make a mistake when creating a complex playlist and make a mistake all I can do is delete it and start over.

Your feedback has been passed on -- but you don't need to delete the whole playlist. Load the playlist into an emptied play queue and edit it, then resave it -- https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360035621354

When I try the solution suggested by Sam R the shuffle option overwrites my current play queue with my entire music library and them randomizes it.

I am following up on this comment/note ... Robert is completely correct and I too am extremely frustrated by the inability to edit and organize a playlist in BlueSound ... I have said this before, and clearly other people have as well ... the Playlist feature is simply not good ... the response ... simply load it, edit and resave is simply NOT OK when you have playlists that are more than a handful of songs ... especially IF the order is important ... I sincerely want a way to be able to work with the play list (or a downloaded version) , check for duplicates, delete, reorder etc. I am totally OK with NOT being able to add songs in a downloaded version ... I am truly coming to believe that this is a fundamental weakness and one that is making me seriously consider another option ... even though I have purchased 3 nodes and 1 speaker ... +-$2,500Can $ ... which is making me very frustrated indeed ........ PLEASE help with this ongoing frustration ... Ian ...

You could use a mediaplayer on your pc or laptop to do the heavy lifting and export the created playlist(s) as a .m3u file. Place the file(s) in the root of your library and reindex. The Bluesound gear is only a streamer after all and the edit function is somewhat limited but very useful to make minor adjustments.
I do all my serious editing and playlist creation using programs like Quod Libet or Clementine, which are free and open source software that work on Linux, Windows and Mac.

That is very interesting and thank you for some insight, I sincerely appreciate it no one form BlueSound support has helped in anyway ... I use a Mac ... having read your note I searching and trying to find how and where the playlists are actually stored, how I access them and copy/export them to the root directory of NASD music library ... any help you can share woudlbe greatly appreciated ... Further, with respect to m3u files I delete all of them that are included within a specific albums files when I add music to my library ... having said that tons of playlists show up in my BluOS Playlist list ... none of which I have created and I really want them deleted ...
Furthermore, as you note, I only use BluOS to access and play MY audio collection, I do use radio on occasion, I do NOT use any streaming service aka Apple music/Spotify etc.
I sincerely thank you ...

Sorry, can't help you with the Mac. The Apple ecosystem is too obfuscated for me. I think there is a "find" function that might be of help in finding some files. I also delete each and every .m3u I find in the albums, only my own files will be read and indexed. If you make changes to a .m3u playlist you will need to do a full rebuild index to erase the old or unwanted playlists.

Thank you for your insights ... I will try to figure this out on the Mac ... you have given me guidance and I appreciate that.

While I wish BlueOS Controller for Windows had a better playlist editor (I share the concerns voiced by others), Alain DW's suggestion is interesting. Where does BlueOS Controller for Windows store its Playlist files? I've done some Googling and searching of my drives and I'm not finding them.

Playlists created in the BluOS App are stored on the hardware players.

I have made backups of the playlists. Once a backup is made you can open/view edit it a text editor. Having said that, it is not easy, nor have I tried actually modifying things, for example, the order of a song in the playlist, saving it, using that to restore the playlist and thereby edit the playlist ... it is simply difficult ... hence, I so truly wish that Bluesound provided a mechanism, within Bluesound to sort/edit a playlist ... it is simply a utility that is missing from the software, a highly desired utility/functionality ... alas

Not going to happen; BS is clearly deaf to this request (at least). 4 years!

And as per a comment from Tony in another thread, the backup function has not been working for some time in the windows app. We are on a downhill track with Bluesound for the moment.

BS app has been crap from the start, still is. And they just don't care about users. Still cannot readily edit, add, delete, reorder items in a playlist. Junk.

I must disagree, the app allows dragging and dropping to rearrange , deleting, adding tracks to a loaded playlist.
Only sorting by title or artist or other in the playlist doesn't seem to be supported.
As for comfort and useability, the "ancient" controller software (2.14) was way better even if some of the later additions of functions are not available.
