Album artworks shown for Node 2i, but not for Powernode 2
BeantwortetHi all,
I have an issue where I'm stuck, maybe someone here can help me. I recently bought a Node 2i and a Powernode 2. The Powernode was significantly cheaper than the new Powernode 2i, so I pulled the trigger on the older one.
I have a collection of 13k FLAC files with embedded artwork files. All jpgs, below 1200x1200, below 600 kB, no exceptions (I made sure via MP3tag). I have built the index with the Node 2i, and the Powernode is taking over the index without any problems - no tracks missing. But: Even if I can see all album artworks when scrolling through the Node 2i's library in the BluOS app, I can see ZERO album artworks when looking at the Powernode's library.
Did I miss something? Are the requirements regarding artwork size or resolution harder for the 2 series? Or is there any other solution to this issue?
Thank you!
Philipp

Hi Philipp
In the BluOS App, select Help, Diagnostics, Rebuild Index to rebuild album artwork. If problems persists, Help, Send Support Request so we may take a closer look.

Hi Tony,
thanks for the hint. I tried to rebuild the index with the Powernode, then all artworks were showing up when in the Powernode library. Sadly, now the Node 2i library is lacking some of the artworks. It seems, that only the device that was used to rebuild the index, is able to show all album artworks correctly.
I will send a support request as you suggested.
Philipp
Edit: I just did a new test - now it worked. It seems that I can't reproduce the error in all situations. I will contact the support nevertheless. Do you have any additional hints?

Curious. The index should duplicate over to all players on the network. For each player, try going into Settings > Reload Artwork. Then close out the BluOS app (perhaps even reboot the device the app is on) then open the app up. It may take a moment for the artwork to load up.

The index is duplicating without any issues, it's only the album artwork that doesn't show up on all devices.
Some additional info on some tests I did in the last days. I repeated each of the tests several times.
(1)
- delete index and rebuild a new, clean index with the Node 2i (Help, Diagnostics, Rebuild Index)
- wait until the Powernode 2 has duplicated the index (LED stops changing between white and blue, is constantly blue again)
- reload artwork on for both devices
- close app and open again
- result: both devices list up all albums, but only Node 2i library shows all album artworks correctly. The Powernode 2 library shows about 80% of all artwork pictures, and some 20% are missing (to be precise: there are only blank pictures, NOT the pictures telling me the artwork is too large). When repeating the process, it's always the identical result. The missing artworks seem always to belong to the same albums. However, I can't find any common characteristic where those albums are different to the ones that show correct artwork. Artwork size and file type, music file size, type, bitrate etc., there is nothing "special" to these albums. The only thing that I noticed is that, with several albums by the same artist, either all album artworks show up, or none. This shows that the missing artworks are not totally random, but there must be some concept behind it. I'm just not able to grasp it.(2)

- wait until the Node 2i has duplicated the index (LED stops changing between white and blue, is constantly blue again)
- reload artwork on for both devices

(In my second comment above, I wrote that when building the index with the Powernode, there were some album artworks missing when browsing the library of the Node 2i. This is something I can't reproduce. The last few times I built the index with the Powernode, all artworks were showing up in both libraries.)(3)
- (no changes since (2), both libraries show all artworks correctly at the beginning)
- add a new album to library and let Powernode 2 do a "normal" re-indexing
- wait until the Node 2i has duplicated the index (LED stops changing between white and blue, is constantly blue again)
- reload artwork on for both devices
- close app and open again
- result: new album appears in library of both devices, but only Powernode 2 shows artwork of new album. Even when I restart all devices (Powernode, Node, Smartphone) there are no change to the result: the new album still is shown without artwork in Node 2i library.
- when doing the same test, but with the re-indexing done by Node 2i, only the Node 2i shows the artwork in its library, and the Powernode 2 doesn't.
- Only when running step 2 (clearing and rebuilding the index with the Powernode 2), the album finally appears with its artwork in both libraries.Summary: when the index is created with the Node 2i, the Powernode 2 will not show all artworks. When the index is created with the Powernode 2 instead, the Node 2i DOES show all artworks. When a new album is added and the shorter rebuild process (under "settings") is run, the new album's artwork shows up only in the library of the device that was used for the re-indexing.
I'm running out of ideas now. There seems to be a workaround that gets me complete libraries with all artworks on both devices (that is: creating a fresh, clean index with the Powernode, and only with the Powernode!, each time there is a change to the music collection), but I hate the idea to have brand new devices for >1000 bucks in sum, and having to fix instable behavior with workarounds from day one. I begin to wonder if I should return the devices, or maybe exchanging the Powernode to another Node 2i (with an additional external amplifier), to avoid mixing two different generations.
Any suggestions?

Update: I got a message from the support team. There are metadata tags that seem to hinder the artworks from showing up in some cases. I did a complete scan of my music collection with MP3Tag and deleted all tags I didn't need. After this and a index rebuild, all artworks are showing as they should.

What were the metadata tags that caused the problem please? I'm having the same issue?

Hi, I don't know to be honest. I had lots of music that was already pre-tagged when I bought it, or tracks that I let automatically tag by some online source. I just deleted all tags that I didn't really need, and after this and a index rebuild, it worked.
I still need to rebuild the index with every single device after a new album is added, which is a bit annoying. But with this workaround, everything works fine.
