Node 2i >> amazon hd >> quality selection
BeantwortetHi,
I just purchase a Node 2i and I am subscribed to Amazon HD services.
I own 2 dacs and depending on my mood and the different configurations I play with I may want to:
- play the music with a 16bits/44Hz vintage dac,
- play the music with a modern dac capable of much higher resolutions (24/196 but no MQA),
- play the music with the Node 2i standalone.
So basically I would like to be able to choose the quality of the music (cd or high resolution) when I stream it, but couldn't find this in bluos configuration. How to proceed for this ?
Second question : when I go to my amazon account configuration (I mean on amazon website not on bluOs app) I noticed the Node2i is not referenced as one of my devices. Is this normal ?
Many thanks in advance,
My best regards,
Steve

Hi Steve
With Amazon Music/HD/UHD and BluOS, will auto-magically play the highest resolution of a song available to you at your price tier.
Bluesound Devices are not registered in Amazon Music. In conversations with our Engineering Group, this is to your benefit. If you have Multiple Bluesound Players and take true advantage of Multiroom, we don't want you running into issues because you cannot listen to Amazon Music grouped throughout your home by running out of device slots.

Hi Tony,
Thanks a lot for your quick answer :)
That's great to know that the Node 2i automatically selects the highest quality available by default.
That now lead me to following question : when I use my vintage dac (16/44.1), what happens exactly if the amazon file that is streamed is high-resolution (say 24/192 for example) ?
- will some 24/192 resolution data be sent to my dac which cannot decode it ?
- or is the Node 2i somehow capable to detect that, and it makes the conversion to 16/44.1 on its own prior sending it to the dac ?
Many thanks in advance,
My best regards,
Steve

Bluesound does not upsample nor downsample - your DAC will not be able to play 24-bit files if it does not support 24-bit files.
That being said, the NODE's onboard 24/192 DAC is not what you think. Try connecting analogue to your amplifier and let your ears decide.0 -
Crystal-clear, thanks for your quick reply :)
