Chromecast into Pulse Flex 2i or Node 2i

I am looking to see if I can get this correct, so if any one may assist I would be greatful for there help. I have recently purchased a pair of pulse flex 2i.. and I also have a Node 2i.

I keep all my music at present on a plex server at work, and use Plexamp to play them on my phone through airplay when I am at home, however I wish to get the best quality I can as most of may flacs are Hi-res.

Heres my thought! If I conect the chromecast optical into the Pulse Flex optical input will I then be able to stream using Chromecast to my Pulse flex with out any loss of quality?

Would it make any differnece if I used my Node2i? would it still still use the built in DAC on the node if its optical input I am using?

I am currently running a Roon trial, its expensve and also requires to use my iMac at home..

Most of my files are only at work, so I would prefere to use my plex library, but don't want to suffer in reduction of sound.
