bluesound and Multicast
BeantwortetWas trying to connect a speaker to my network at work and our IT departments has told me that these speakers will not connect due to their use of Multicast and our network not permitting Multicast. Is this typical of a business/commercial network? I have contacted bluesound professional but was hoping I could go this route. Thank you.

Hi Dave
Like most IoT Smart Products, Bluesound requires Multicast enabled. This includes Bluesound Professional.
Work with your Corporate IT Group to setup a network for your Bluesound Professional environment and speak with your Bluesound Distributor about how. -
Thanks Tony. Do you know who would be the distributor for my area? Juneau, Alaska 99801. I ordered a test speaker from Crutchfield. Thank you.

Hi Dave
If you bought from Crutchfield you have a Blueosund Player, not a Bluesound Professional Player - that being said you will still have the same problem. Speak to your local IT Group to allow multicast on your network segment.

Due to the reliance on Multi-cast and our network not permitting it, our IT department is recommending PoE speakers.
Looking at these, they seem to be more for PA/Voice announcements than playing background music.
I have reached out to Bluesound Professional but have not heard back. I will try calling next week.
