Bluesound pulse SOUNDBAR upgrade
BeantwortetWith the latest Bluesound BluOS software version 2.14.0, you can now create the ultimate Dolby Digital® surround sound system with a PULSE SOUNDBAR and a pair of PULSE FLEXs as rears.
I have the above described setup. But I have a few comments/questions.
1. When creating a home cinema group, the rear speakers will only be active when a Dolby Digital surround sound is streamed. Unfortunately when using the speakers for playing music, the rear speakers will not be active because they are part of the home cinema group. I should remove the group and select them in a new group for normal playing. Will an update become available to auto switch when there is no surround sound available?
2. The pulse SOUNDBAR (and pulse mini) can be controlled with the tv remote (IR learning). Unfortunately the pulse flex can not. When using the SOUNDBAR with the 2 flex in one group for tv sound, the flex must be controlled by the app, so controlling e.g. the volume, the remote can be used for the SOUNDBAR and separately the app for the flex. Will there be an update available to control the flex through the SOUNDBAR when in a group using the tv remote? This will be very convenient.
Ideal would be when the system recognize the input signal to determine which group will be active automatically, e.g. Dolby Digital or music group to play music on all devices.
I have the following devices: pulse SOUNDBAR, mini and two flex speakers (pulse sub ordered).

Hi Rob
Thanks for contacting Bluesound.
1) We are always looking into improving the experience. We have had some preliminary discussions regarding nested grouping and Players being in multiple fixed groups at the same time. I have forwarded these comments to our Quality Assurance team for future consideration.
2) The volume control using an IR remote with the SOUNDBAR, if in a Home Theatre Group is the master volume for all the Players in the group. All players should increase in volume relative to where they were in the group. If this is not happening, please select Help, Send Support Request in your App so one of our BluOS Support Crew Members can see your Log file as to why not.
Thanks for the feedback, this is how we make a better experience for everyone.

Hi Tony,
The first feature is something that I'd definitely welcome too. In my opinion it is a shame to leave 2 FLEXes permanently hanging on the wall for whenever there is Dolby Digital available, don't you think so? One of mine is for example regularly dragged into the kitchen/bathroom/bedroom or even outside with the battery pack. This kind of flexibility is really awesome but there is stil room for improvement indeed.
At this point you'd have to ungroup for listening music and regroup for the home cinema setup to watch a movie or TV, which is kind of a annoying since distances and volumes have to be set for each of the 3 speakers. In addition, not all broadcasts on TV have Dolby Digital available - it would be nice to have the FLEXes play the same as the SOUNDBAR in these scenarios.
Thank you for taking this into consideration.
With warm regards,
Tycho

I have to agree with Tygo and Rob on these exact matters. Unfortunately 2 yaers later i come across the same issues. Have to say I am very pleased with the overall sound quality of my bluesound system: 1x 2i soundbar + sub and 2x 2i flex rear speakers. Love the sound quality when playing music but also bought this set up to enjoy dolby digital content for tv content. However... I never use DD set up because this means changing groups/set up of speakers everytime I want to listen to music/DD content. Really hope DD feauture becomes more user friendly in.the future!

I am also curious what the progress in this matter is?
Grouping / Ungrouping and vice versa can not be the future oriented solution.
Thanks in advance for a brief update.

Hi Bluesound,
It has been two years and still no changes made. As you can read, it is something more people would like to have available (point 1, point 2 refers back to point 1)!
Is it something on the to do list of Bluesound? In these bizarre times we even listen more to music and watch more movies and having a system that has this functionality available will be even more appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your responds

Hello Rob,
Your previous request is one that we still see quite often with handling non-Dolby Digital content in a Home Theater group. Our Quality Assurance team is aware of the demand for such a feature and are still in talks with our developers on the best way to implement this into the BluOS app. With that being said, we do not publicly release timelines on future updates or features so I can not say if or when this feature will become available. However, you can rest assured that this is still something being looked into and will hopefully be brought to the BluOs app in a future update.
Regards,
