Tone controls not working with paired bluetooth headphones?

I have paired my Jabra bluetooth headphone to my Bluesound Node 2 and even though the tone controls are enabled when I adjust the treble or bass I don't seem to hear a difference?  Is there something I am missing?

  When connecting over a digital connection with your Bluesound player, the Tone Controls would not affect the audio -- this is as part of Bluesound's implementation design and the desire of our team to keep our digital outputs in line with our promise to deliver your music files without any alterations or resampling.
