Using a Blusesound Node 2i with an Apple MacPro (plus Computer Speakers) + Roon Setup ?
BeantwortetI have my Bluesound Node 2i connected to my Apple MacPro using the Optical Out on my MacPro and Optical Analogue In on my Bluesound Node 2i. Also connected to my Node 2i and my Apple MacPro is a pair of Audio Engine A5+ speakers. Previously I had these connected to an ARCAM irDAC, but as I have now moved my Roon 1.8 over to my MacBook Pro running Ventura, so I could run Roon 2.0, these speakers were no longer possible to group with my other Powernode 2i in my office and brand new Powernode in my Living Room. So I decided to try and integrate the Bluesound Node 2i into my MacPro setup... I can get it to play music via the Digital Out option on my Output Devices: List, but if I toggle from something like the BluOS Controller app and listening to music to my Google Chrome Browser and listening to video/music... I get total silence, so I have to manually select from Digital Out to the Airplay listing of the Node 2i and then I get audio... laggy audio I would much like to avoid.
The reason why I can no longer have my ARCAM irDAC + Audio Engine A5+ playing music from Roon 2.0 is that my MacPro computer is no longer now running Roon. That's on my MacBook Pro now... as that can run Roon 2.0, my MacPro was only capable of Roon 1.8 Legacy, so that's why I hoped that adding the Node 2i to my MacPro setup might get those speakers back onto the Roon system so I could group with again with my two other PowerNode devices... one located in my office with my driving B&W 603 S3 speakers and the other in my livingroom driving B&W 40th Anniversary 602 speakers.
Anyone else ever use their Bluesound Node 2i with their Apple Mac... MacPro specifically running macOS Mojave 10.14.6. ? I also used to use my ARCAM irDAC in settings on Teams for meetings... so that the audio came out my Audio Engine A5+ speakers, would this even work anymore also... ? Do I just have to give up and realise the Bluesound Node 2i won't work in the flexible way my previous ARCAM irDAC did.
Any comments or suggestions most welcome.

There is nothing special about Audio Output of the NODE here. The issues you are seeing centre around the MacBook.
Bluesound Players are home audio devices designed to unlock digital music and not computer-based DAC systems. Therefore the NODE sees your MacBook as an audio source, like a CD Player or Turntable. Likely there is digital processing happening in the MacBook. Please see this Help Centre Article which may point you in the right direction; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/4403218953495. If that does not help, I would contact Apple to find the best solution for this.
